Reverse Image Search for Dating Profiles

Upload a photo to see which dating sites and social profiles use it, spot scam reports, and scan the usernames behind it on dating apps. Free, with results right here.

What a photo search can tell you

A reverse image search takes a picture and looks for the same or similar images across the web. For online dating, that answers two important questions:

Is this person real?

If your match’s photos appear on someone else’s Instagram, a model’s portfolio, a stock photo site or a scam-warning forum under a different name, the profile is almost certainly fake.

Where else are they online?

A photo can lead to social media accounts, old profiles and usernames. Run those usernames through our free username search to check dating apps.

Photo search rarely finds dating profiles directly, because apps like Tinder, Bumble and Hinge stop search engines from indexing most of their images. It works best as a catfish check and as a way to discover usernames.

How to search a dating profile photo

  1. Get the photo. Take a screenshot of the profile photo, or save a picture they sent you. Crop it so the face fills most of the frame.
  2. Upload it or paste a link. Use the Photo tab above. We check where the image appears across the web using Google’s image index.
  3. Review the results. Dating sites come first, then social profiles that use the photo and any scam-report pages. We automatically scan the first username we find on dating apps.
  4. Look for mismatches. A different name, country, job or age attached to the same photo is a red flag.
  5. Follow the usernames. Any social handle you find can be scanned on dating apps with our free tool.

Tips for better results

  • Use the clearest, front-facing photo you have. Group shots, sunglasses and heavy filters reduce matches.
  • Crop out backgrounds and borders from screenshots, including app buttons and text.
  • Search more than one photo. Scammers often mix photos from different sources.
  • Try a mirrored version if you get nothing. Some fake profiles flip stolen images to avoid detection.
  • Check the dates. TinEye shows when an image first appeared online. A photo that existed years before your match “took it” is a warning sign.

Signs a dating profile uses stolen photos

  • The same photo appears under a different name or in another country
  • Photos come from a model, fitness influencer or stock image site
  • Every photo is professional-quality, with no casual or group shots
  • They refuse to video call or send a new photo with a specific gesture
  • The conversation moves to money, crypto or an emergency

Found your match’s photos under another name? Stop sending money or personal information, report the profile in the app, and see our guide to spotting fake profiles. In the US, report romance scams at ReportFraud.ftc.gov.

Is reverse image search private?

Your photo is sent securely to our search server and to Google’s image search service to run the search, then deleted. We don’t store it, log it or show it to anyone, and its location data is removed before searching. The person in the photo isn’t notified. Use photos you’re allowed to use, and never use results to harass or track anyone.

FAQ

Can I find someone’s dating profile with a photo?

Sometimes. Dating apps block most of their images from search engines, so a photo search rarely finds the dating profile itself. It’s best for finding social accounts and usernames, which you can then scan on dating apps for free.

What is the best free reverse image search for dating?

Start with our photo search: it shows dating sites and social profiles that use the photo and scans the usernames it finds. For more coverage, the results also link to Google Lens, Yandex and TinEye.

Can I search a photo from my phone?

Yes. Upload from your camera roll or paste an image link. Screenshots of a dating profile work well if you crop them to the photo.

How do I know if a dating profile is fake?

Search their photos. If they appear under another name, on a model’s page or on a scam forum, the profile is fake. Refusing video calls and asking for money are other strong signs.

Is face search legal?

Searching publicly available images is generally legal. Use it for safety and verification, not to harass, stalk or identify people who don’t want to be found.
