How Happn works
Happn, created in Paris, is built on location. Instead of a random stack of profiles, it shows people whose path you’ve crossed in real life: the same street, café or train. Profiles show roughly where and how many times you crossed paths. It’s especially popular in France and other European cities.
That design means you can’t search Happn by name or username inside the app. You only see people who were physically near you, and only if they’re open to being seen.
How to find someone on Happn
- Free username scan. Enter their usernames from other platforms above. The scan checks Happn along with Tinder and other apps.
- Be where they are. If you have a Happn account, people you cross paths with appear in your timeline. Someone who lives or works near you is likely to appear eventually. Keep in mind that Happn also shows you to them.
- Check the other apps. Happn users often run Tinder or Bumble at the same time, and Tinder gives the best results in our scans.
- Search by name (paid). A people-search partner can find linked usernames to scan for free.
What “crossed paths” does and doesn’t mean
Seeing someone on Happn means you were near each other at some point, not that you met or that they were looking for you. Happn shows approximate locations, not exact addresses or live tracking. If you’re worried someone is using location apps to follow you, check your own settings: Happn lets you hide your profile and control location sharing.
FAQ
Can you search Happn by name?
No. Happn only shows people you’ve crossed paths with. There’s no name or username search.
Can I check Happn without an account?
Yes. Our free scan checks Happn by username without needing a Happn account.
Does Happn show exact locations?
No. It shows roughly where you crossed paths, not someone’s live location or home address.
Why didn’t the scan find a Happn profile?
Happn profiles are kept inside the app and aren’t tied to usernames, so they’re harder to find from outside. Try other usernames and check the other apps in your results.
