About Plenty of Fish
Plenty of Fish (POF) is one of the oldest dating sites still running. It started in Canada in 2003 and has been owned by Match Group since 2015. It remains popular in the US, Canada and the UK, and works both as an app and on the web at pof.com.
Unlike Hinge or Bumble, POF profiles display a username. People often pick a handle once and reuse it, so a POF username can lead you to other accounts, and other usernames can lead you to a POF profile.
How to find someone on POF
1. Scan the username for free
If you know their POF username, enter it exactly above. If you don’t, try the handles they use on Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok, gaming platforms or the first part of their email address.
2. Try username variations
POF usernames often include numbers, birth years or location hints: mike_tx84, mike84tx, miketexas84. Run a few variations before giving up.
3. Search engines
Try site:pof.com "username" and "username" pof in Google or Bing. Older profiles sometimes appear in search results.
4. Browse POF with filters
With your own POF account, you can filter by age, distance and other details. It’s slow, and they may see that you viewed or liked them.
5. Search by name (paid)
A people-search partner can find usernames and social accounts linked to a full name, which you can then scan for free.
